LIBRARY AND ACCELERATED READER INFO:  Parents, as the kids have this time away from traditional school, let's work together to make sure they spend time reading.  Daily reading time will be a really foundational way to provide some structure in this new scenario for learning.  Hopefully your kids have brought home books from our library or possible the classroom to read.  Beyond that, please consider the following:

  • Download Epic!, a digital library of over 35,000 books.
  • Visit Goodreads, a site that lets kids freely search a database of books, annotations, and reviews.  They can generate reading lists and share suggestions with other readers.
  • Read to your own kids!  Kids of all ages love this.  To step up your game a bit, you could download Novel Effects, an app that brings your books to life by providing music, sound effects, and character voices at just the right moment, following the sound of your voice.
  • Hopefully all this reading will help kids keep their Accelerated Reader goals in mind.  Unfortunately, there is no testing from home.  But make sure to keep a list of what is read to catch up when school resumes.  To compensate for the time lost in the program, we will reduce AR award levels by five points across the board.
  • And finally, the book fair:  A few of you are still waiting for some paid orders that have not yet come in.  I will keep tabs on these and notify you when they do!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who submitted a Box Tops sheet for our recent contest. We were able to raise $403.60! This will go towards our awesome Accelerated Reader program. Keep saving those few paper Box Tops that remain.

As most of you know, Box Tops has gone digital. With the change to the program comes a change to our contests. The paper sheets will still continue until we no longer have any paper Box Tops to send in. The last expiration dates we've seen have been through 2023.

With the change to digital, we can no longer track Box Tops by class. Our plan is to set a digital goal for the entire school. If we reach that goal, the WHOLE SCHOOL would receive a jeans/comfy cozy day.

Please see the attached letter from Box Tops explaining how to scan your receipt digitally.  Hopefully everyone will download the app and start saving!

If you have any questions, please contact Katie Tobey at ktobey@splcs.net.

Thank you for your support!

Mrs. Tobey, Mrs. Washburn, and Mrs. Dawson

It’s time for the optional St. Peter Macomb Annual Camp Arcadia Fall Confirmation Retreat.

Each year, Camp Arcadia has a special weekend retreat for students
beginning 7th and 8th grade. This retreat focuses on confirmation and includes fun indoor and outdoor
activities.

Although not a requirement, it will be an exciting start for your confirmation education. This retreat
is in partnership with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Registration is open to those students who turn in the Registration form, the Medical Release form and the
full non-refundable payment by April 10, 2020. Parents interested in chaperoning can apply at:
www.confirmationcamp.com

Please make checks out to St. Peter Lutheran Church, and return with both forms to the Church or School Office.
